Team Sho-Air, in partnership with Economy Rent a Car and La Ruta de Los Conquistadores is proud to announce that they will be entering their top endurance riders in the B.C. Race. After a strong finish in the 07 La Ruta, and currently ranked 10th overall in the 2008 N.M.B.S. Mavin Campos and Series Manuel Prado, former La Ruta Champion 2003, will be taking part in the Canadian Stage Race in British Columbia. Prado and Campos will compete in the Elite mens double category. This is one of two team classes they have this year for the stage race in order to promote safety and camaraderie. This category requires that the riders stay together throughout the race. The Costa Rican duo have been racing together for 3 years. The Ticos arrived early to practice riding the trails in British Columbia. This has allowed them to develop the technical skills necessary to be successful in the seven-day stage race. Day 1 begins in Victoria, and day 7 is in Whistler, a famous MTB town.
The race starts on June 28th, and ends on July 4th. The race will put their fitness to the test with the first two stages (Days 1-2) covering more than 200 km. The next four stages average 70 km per day. The final stage is a 47-kilometer ride through Whistler, where all trails are at least as technical as they get in North America.
Manuel and Marvin are likely to face tough competition. The event attracts some of the best riders around the globe. The pros will include Chris Eatough (6-time 24 Hour Solo World Champion), Trans Rockies Champion Andreas Hestler (top NORBA riders Max Plaxton and Kris Sneddon), Barry Wicks, Seamus MacGrath (Canadian National Champion) and Barry Wicks (top NORBA riders). Any of the duo Teams will have seven days to prove their worth and be declared champions of BC Bike Race.
