HARO STEPS UP TO PLATE

Haro Bikes donated funds to Preserve Calavera’s acquisition campaign to secure the historic Sherman parcel, which covers 134 acres in the Buena Vista Valley.

The Sherman parcel is located in Carlsbad CA. It is rich in natural and historical resources. There is evidence that the Sherman valley was home to early Native Americans for almost 10,000 years. The Native American Heritage Commission has recently designated El Salto Falls on the parcel’s creek as a sacred place. This area is an important wildlife corridor, and home to many species of animals and plants, including the endangered Least bells Vireo. After this valuable piece of land has been acquired, plans are in place to make it available to hikers/mountain bikers. These trails will also be connected to existing trails that lead to the coast and Lake Calavera.

« We are very excited to be a part of this incredible effort. Jill Hamilton, Haros Mountain Bike brand manager. It would be a great victory for not only mountain bikers but for all hikers, historians, nature-lovers, and San Diego County as a whole.
